Dancing in Public
Have you ever danced in the grocery store? I highly recommend it!
Last year I was out and about with my beloved, Jamie, and decided to hit up a favorite grocery store - Grocery Outlet.
I came to know Grocery Outlet after moving to the West Coast. Grocery Outlet is special.
When I try to explain it to someone who’s never been it’s like a Christmas stocking of grocery store experiences. They buy discount items that were over-purchased by another grocer or buy items set to expire soon.
Going there is like opening your Christmas stocking on Christmas morning (or eve) or whenever you do it! It’s exciting. You can’t really have expectations and you’re probably going to have some fun surprises. And who doesn’t like the surprises of Christmas stockings? No coal here!
You’re bound to find something tasty, pretty or in my family, even, useful or healthy. A stocking for me at home might include chocolates, a slinky, socks, and or dried apricots.
So there we were at the Grocery Outlet in Altadena, the location I used to visit when returning to civilization from wandering the trails surrounding L.A. Shhh. Please do not tell anyone about the nature here. It’s only superficial people, Disneyland, and the ocean, okay!?
So there we were, our first time at Grocery Outlet together, apparently a little hungry, but otherwise in very good dispositions. As we moved about the store with our shopping cart, we felt the sound emitting from the overhead speakers begin to move us! We danced together and separately without feeling self-conscious and even hoping to offer some joy to others.
It was so fun and two shopping carts and $300 later, we were on our way. (I guess we both have a sweet tooth or two, and loved their discounts on the N.O.S.H. - natural foods and organic section, and their plant and gardening area.)
