Self-Mothering
Feminine energy is in us all and today is a day to honor this energy, to celebrate it.
Hello Divergents!
Happy Mother's Day. That is, thank you for all the ways you nurture yourself and others. Thank you for all the ways you nourish new life. Thank you for all the ways you protect. Thank you for all the ways you love others - and, yes, yourself included.
Feminine energy is in us all and today is a day to honor this energy, to celebrate it. This celebration might not look like the way we were taught in the U.S. - buying flowers, eating brunch or breakfast in bed, cards, and time together as family.
It might like like spending time in the loving and healing community that you started - a community that finds middle-age people accessing parts of themselves that have been shut away since childhood. It might look like writing a song after realizing you have not used art in the last year-plus to specifically transmute the family-related pain and trauma you experienced recently.
This, too, is mothering. The best mothering comes from a place of security where the love you extend for others is rooted in a secure sense of belonging to yourself and the cosmos.
It comes from a place of integration and authenticity. There is nothing like art to do this and art in community.
So this Mother's Day, I offer this fresh song for me and all those who need mothering.
I hope you find yourself seen and loved. I hope you take steps to find yourself in a sacred community that sees you, honors you, and loves you - even if it means shrinking your circle to you and the Divine, for a time.
Rooting for you,
-Elle Sequoia Brave
